YMCA Of The Capital Area

The YMCA has to be my top choice when it comes to swim lessons in Baton Rouge. I used to work as a lifeguard at a local YMCA, and I watched kids of all ages and skill levels leave swim lessons as more proficient swimmers. It was so fun watching them progress as the weeks went by. The instructors are knowledgeable and work well with young toddlers, too.

They have lessons for toddlers as young as 6 months old in their Swim Starters Program, which introduces them to the aquatic environment. Be sure to check out your local YMCA for age- and skill-appropriate lessons.

Louisiana Swim School

The Louisiana Swim School, located on Essen Lane, offers private lessons, a heated pool, and age-appropriate lessons for toddlers as young as 6 months old. They teach survival swim lessons for young toddlers and teach them how to float in case they fall into a body of water. They also offer traditional swimming lessons for older kids.

Tadpole Academy Swim School

The Tadpole Academy offers many age-appropriate skills in their swimming lessons. In their beginner class, they teach children how to hold their breath when they enter the water, how to hold on to the side of the pool, and how to safely exit. You can check out their website for the many locations where they offer swim lessons for kids of all ages.
